Guest Post: the Case for a Digital Library

Over the years -- how odd to say that about the Atlantic's web site! -- I've several times had "guest posts" from my friend David Rothman, of the Teleread site. For instance, here. I always give him the benefit of the doubt because he has been so right, so early, so often, about so many tech/social trends. A decade-plus ago he was telling me about the potential of "electronic readers" when I could barely envision how a Kindle/nook/iPad might work. He's also done a lively novel about what's wrong with the DC press corps.

David is back, with an argument for a "well-stocked digital library." It is here and, for those interested in the connections between technology and society, it is very much worth considering.
